CHAUTAUQUA PARK SHINGLE This residence is tucked in at the end of a street on a wooded lot adjacent to Boulder’s historic Chautauqua Park. The design is a reinterpretation of an East Coast shingle-style house in the context of the historic park, which is graced with an eclectic collection of cedar shingled cottages and a performance hall. The street facade is comprised of a composition of asymmetrical gabled forms, sheathed by warm cedar shingles and large double hung windows. The shingles gracefully slope over the top of a rough laid Telluride stone base that anchors the home into the site. The East elevation also contains a collection of circular character windows with a roof eyebrow window providing light to an upper bathroom. |
